Welcome to the latest 4PLAS newsletter, since the beginning of 2022, with the easing of Covid restrictions across the UK our team has been starting to make more and more visits to our customers, of course, this is only with their permission or at their request.

Many market sectors remain cautious such as the medical sector, and other customers have been hit hard by the virus effecting their employee’s ability to come into work due to a positive test and self-isolation and maybe symptoms or severe illness. Some require lateral flow and temperature test others still require use of face masks and hand gel and we are happy to comply with any visit requirements.

As a responsible business we follow Government rules & recommendations as well as those restrictions that our customers prefer, and for those still restricting visitors we will continue to conduct virtual meetings via Zoom, Teams or other teleconferencing platforms.

So far this year we have been working on many new design projects, some requiring use of our in house moldflow analysis, as well as a raft of re-shoring projects that have previously been in the Far East, we have also been assisting with material substitutions & testing, in order to resolve issues with shortages and extended lead times from other suppliers..

Our stocks of material remain satisfactory, and our lead times have only extended a little so far, so we continue to meet our customers’ demands for quality products delivered in a timely manner.

Prices continue to rise with the most effected materials being PA66 and FRABS, we also continue to see shortages of some polymers such as POM as well as additives such as glass fibres and some flame retardant products. Shipping charges continue to place pressure on prices and leads times, and now fuel and energy cost increases are beginning to be felt.

4PLAS has and will continue to do everything we can to mitigate these increases and shipping delays, and so far, our customers have seen little in the way of delays and no real shortages however we have been unable to hold back the tide of global price increase across all polymers and cannot see this coming to an end any time soon.

Over the coming months we plan to launch a completely new range of Bio based polymers and polymers with natural Fillers and additives this group of products will be an exciting addition to our comprehensive polymer offering enabling us to help our end users to meet growing demands for these types of sustainable materials, what this space of more details soon.
